RASCOM to have up-dated the IP-network

20.08.2015
The company RASCOM has finalized the works to migrate the Russian segment of its UP-network to the “40 Gigabit Ethernet” technology. The up-dating as performed has allowed it to increase efficiency of passing IP-traffic, lessen the additional delays on high-speed backbone interfaces and create  an opportunity of avoiding overloads caused by traffic volume bursts.

Russian segment of RASCOM’s IP-network consists of two sub-systems that are intended to separately transmit MPLS-VPN  and  INTERNET traffic. In 2014, the company has completed migrating the MPLS-VPN sub-system to the “40 Gigabit Ethernet” technology, and, in 2015, the whole Russian segment of RASCOM’s IP-network was moved to that technology, too.  While implementing the up-dating, the company RASCOM has used the equipment of two vendors that are enjoying a good reputation at the network equipment market place: Cisco and Extreme Networks whose technological solutions have been successfully employed by the company RASCOM for many years already.

“We are genuinely glad to witness RASCOM’s decision to choose, for  modernizing Russian segment of their IP-network, the CISCO’s ASR 9000 routers. This equipment series has, already, gained a good image as being failure-resistant, scalable and highly-efficient platform for transmitting backbone IP-traffic and supporting wideband access to the INTERNET. At the same time, employing the ASR 9000 routers fully meets strict requirements as put forward in relation to power consumption and data security” ,- stressed Mr. Denis Sobolev, CISCO’s Manager for key customers.

“Our company is specializing in the solutions for telecommunication carriers, and, in particular, is focused on introducing high-density , 10G / 40G / 100G, and wide functionality range products that the carrier needs. We are happy to co-operate with RASCOM”,- commented the representative of the company Extreme Networks.

“The growth of traffic volume passing over RASCOM’s backbone networks leads, periodically, to the necessity of up-dating those networks”,- comments Mr. D.A. GANZA, General Director of the CJSC “RASCOM” . – “The transition of RASCOM’s IP-network to the “40 Gigabit Ethernet” technology is a timely implementation of the earlier planned steps to be taken and is targeted at heightening the quality and reliability level of the IP-services to be provided by RASCOM.”
