Activation of 2-nd DWDM system at the route Moscow - Stockholm

05.06.2008
The company RASCOM is launching in operation a new DWDM system at the route Moascow - Stockholm . The system is based on the Nortel-manufactured  СPL equipment and permits to arrange up to 72 wavelengths , total capacity being 720 Gbps and more. Now, CJSC  RASCOM is already owning  2  DWDM systems at the route Moscow - Stockholm. Each of those systems is built usage being made of fibers in different cables that pass over different independent routes and use different equipment sets.
Beside that, an important characteristic of the new system is that iut is here that Rascom has been the first in Europe to install transponders with a bandwidth of 40 Gbps. Transponder of this type permits to increase the capacity of a wavelength from 10 Gbps to 40 Gbps, i.e., four times. This feature stresses the circumstance that now, on the eve of its 15th anniversary, the company RASCOM that was the first to build a SDH and DWDM fiber-optic network in Russia is not only a successfully developing operator but rather a leader in introducing new technologies.
